The work of Decisions & Economics
Hello everyone! The game has already been published, and now it's time to discuss it.
In this devlog, I will explain the development process of the game during the jam. As my first project in Unity, I spent more time learning Unity than actually developing the game. It has been a great exercise for me. Although it's not my first game overall (as I have developed games in the past using Godot, as you can see on my profile), I wanted to try Unity and see what I could achieve!
The Idea
During the first week of the jam, I spent most of my time thinking about the idea and juggling my job responsibilities (post-Christmas, the office gets really busy). Thanks to the mind map that the moderators uploaded, I could extract some key words to help refine my idea: economic, decisions, and karma. The initial idea was more ambitious, involving events in the game where players would face tough decisions affecting their lives. However, due to poor planning, I didn't have enough time to implement this.
Art and Design
For this project, I used Aseprite for the art and assets. At the beginning of the jam, I aimed for something similar to the game "Faith." However, I decided to add a little touch to the style, so my environment has more detail than the mentioned game, rather than imitating the style of Atari games.
The Future of the Project
I believe the idea is interesting, and after these two weeks of working on the project, I've decided to, at the very least, fix and add some content so the game can resemble the initial idea I had. Stay tuned for future updates!
